When it comes to any kind of work, relationships almost always trump other concerns. My friend was working in a warehouse using power pallet trucks and really wanted to be able to move to another area and get a better position. The problem was that there was no transferring going on per company policy at the time. However, he was a nice guy and had made some friends who were willing to pull strings for him and make an exception. He got the transfer, to the amazement of most of his coworkers. He’s now in his new job and his family is moving to the new place.
