I thought about going into business for myself, and for a while I was interested in transcription. But what really grabbed my attention was medical billing coding. This way I could be involved in an allied health career, and learn a lot about medicine, but not have the responsibility that a doctor does. I like the precise nature of coding — that there is a code for every diagnosis, and for every procedure or piece of medical equipment. I am not necessarily a great people person and I prefer to work in a quiet environment, so this work is exactly what suits me best.
