I recently had some surgery, and had to spend a couple of nights in the hospital. I had never been through surgery myself before, and I was incredibly anxious. I wanted my family to be able to visit me, but I felt self-conscious about having to share a room with someone else. I was glad for the medical curtain dividers that gave us at least a tiny bit of privacy. I knew it would be a very challenging couple of days for many reasons, and the last thing I wanted was to have to make small talk with another patient in my room.
