Beekeepers on How to Catch Wild Bees

8:12 am Home

Beekeepers can also make their hives to catch the attention of wild bees. One way is to place an open container of honey in the new hives. This method is very easy, but it’s disadvantage is that it will probably attract all kinds of insects, including non-honey bees. Another method of attracting wild honeybees is to put a frame of empty brood honeycomb inside the hive(s). Capturing natural or wild honeybee swarms has many drawbacks. There is no way of knowing, for example, whether they are diseased or if the queen that you catch with the swarm is new and has not been mated yet. Learn more about how to start keeping bees.
