Staying in touch while away teaching English
February 23, 2010 3:49 am TravelWhen you’re going overseas and you start teaching english abroad you might want to think about how you’re going to contact your family and loved ones. Cell phones can run a high bill and no one wants that when they’re trying to have a good time abroad. I would consider getting a prepaid phone because then you can just reload them when you’re out of minutes. Another option if you don’t want to get a prepaid phone is just buy loads of calling cards and call home from a pay phone. They are really light and the great thing is you won’t have to worry about recharging your phone. If you have your lap top with you while you’re traveling then I would suggest Skype. It is a program that you can install on your computer and with a headset you can make calls to other Skype computers for free. Skype also has a phone so if you don’t feel like lugging around your lap top Skype has really cheap international rates.
