The best time to get car rental and take a drive to South Africa’s Coast is during June and November each year.  This is when whales that are courting, mating and calving frequenting these waters, stretching from Gansbaai in the south to St Helena Bay on the west coast, and of course Hermanus being in the center.  The species most commonly seen, is the Southern Right Whale, but Humpback and Bryde’s whales have also been sighted in the area.  We took a drive along the coast during September last year and had an experience we won’t soon forget.
